What is endocrinology?

Endocrinology is the study of hormone-producing glands and the conditions caused when hormone levels become unbalanced. Because hormones affect energy, growth, fertility, and overall health, imbalances can cause a wide range of symptoms. Our consultants provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and care to help restore balance and wellbeing. Among the conditions we treat are:

  • Type 1 diabetes
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Thyroid disorders: including hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism and thyroid nodules
  • Pituitary disorders: hormone-related problems affecting the pituitary gland
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
  • Adrenal disorders: including adrenal insufficiency, cortisol excess syndromes and adrenal nodules
  • Bone disorders: including osteoporosis and hyperparathyroidism
