What is haematology?

Haematology is the branch of medicine that deals with  the diagnosis and management of blood disorders. Blood health affects every part of the body, so early detection and expert care are essential. At The Physicians’ Clinic, our specialists provide thorough assessment and personalised treatment plans for a wide range of haematological conditions, including:

  • Haematological cancers: including leukaemia, myeloma and lymphoma
  • Anaemia: including iron-deficiency, haemolytic, aplastic, and pernicious anaemia
  • Thrombosis: including deep vein thrombosis and risks of heart attack, stroke, or embolism
  • Inherited blood clotting disorders: such as haemophilia, sickle cell disease, and Von Willebrand disease
  • Iron overload (haemochromatosis): excess iron absorption causing digestive, liver, or heart problems
  • Platelet disorders: including thrombocytopenia and thrombocytosis
